Seaboard Warehouse Terminals
We do it right the first time... then do it better

Our Humble Beginnings - a history of service

Seaboard warehouse terminals, a history of public warehousing for more than 50 years.

1925

A New York businessman named Sam Blank came to South Florida with just enough credit for a container of flour. From this humble beginning, and Sam's entrepreneurial spirit, National Brands was founded. Sam ran a tight ship. He listened to his customers and provided creative solutions to their distribution needs in the rapidly expanding Miami market. His strategy worked. Over the years, National Brands grew to become the world's largest Anheuser Busch distributor and Florida's largest institutional wholesale grocer.

1952
Libby, McNeil & Libby (Libby brand products) was searching for a warehouse operator to handle all of their inventory needs. The choices were few and they didn't like their options. But they were very impressed with the experience they had with National Brands and had a good working relationship with the Blank family. So they approached Sam and asked him if he would be interested in starting a public warehouse operation. Sam agreed, and Seaboard Warehouse Terminals was born.

Jerry Blank, Sam's son, dug right in. Literally. He began his career at Seaboard with the groundbreaking for the new warehouse building, which was completed in 1958. Jerry took the time to really understand his customers' business. As a result, he built Seaboard, starting with their first anchor customer, Libby, McNeil & Libby, to the multi-faceted premier Miami operation it is today.

1985
Continuing the momentum of growth, Andy Blank, Jerry's son, has taken the company to a whole new level. Under Andy's leadership, the company expanded greatly, adding warehouse operations in Ft. Lauderdale (1986), Tampa (1987), Atlanta (1996) and Chicago 2002. And that's just the beginning. Just as his grandfather, Sam saw the opportunity when Libby, McNeil & Libby approached him, Andy too will continue to expand, to keep pace with the ever-expanding needs of his customers.

Today
Spanning fifty years and three generations, Sam Blank's vision continues to shine, fostering a new generation of third party logistics professionals who are committed to the same business values on which the company was founded - unparalleled service in the warehousing, distribution and transportation industry. A Corporation committed to excellence at every level of service. Dedicated to doing the job right the first time... then doing it better. That's how Seaboard Warehouse Terminals has become an industry leader today.
